Japanese singer Utada Hikaru's upcoming album

Island records is doing lots of promotion for Utada’s upcoming album “Exodus.” This follows her 3 other hugely successful Japanese releases which, all combined, sold 20+ million copies. The record company is working with MTV’s international divisions to help build maximum awareness amongst her worldwide fans. Up until the release, MTV will be hosting Utada animations, downloads, and an exclusive interview online.

Ayumi Hamasaki cancels Hokkaido performance

Organizers for the A-Nation tour had a rough time of it in early August when Ayumi Hamasaki canceled her Hokkaido performance due to acute Sinusitis and Pharyngitis. She later made a statement on the A-Nation website, apologizing to her fans and organizers, and vowed to do a live show there after she recovers.

Namie Amuro finally wins custody of 7 year old son

Namie Amuro was recently awarded custody of her 7 year old son Haruto. She had for several years shared the responsibility of raising him with her ex-husband SAM (of TRF) but up until the court’s decision, she did not have full parental rights under Japanese law.

Orange Range drummer surprises band, quits

Orange Range drummer Katchan has left the current tour blaming a hand injury, but then shortly thereafter, announced he was leaving the band for good. There’s been a lot of speculation as to what happened, but there’s been no other official statements from Katchan or the band itself. Apparently, the group wishes him well, but will definitely continue on without him.

Park Yong Ha incredible Tokyo concert success

Japanese audience’s gave their blessings to Korean artist Park Yong Ha by buying over 10,000 tickets to his August show at the Nippon Budoka in Tokyo. The concert grossed nearly Y100 million, and proves that Japan’s current fascination with Korean artists shows no sign of waning.
