Puffy AmiYumi appearing in N.Y. Parade

Japanese pop duo Puffy AmiYumi’s success continues in the US, not only on the Cartoon Network, but now they’ve been the first Japanese performers invited to appear at the New York Thanksgiving Day Parade. They are reportedly very excited, albeit slightly nervous at the thought of appearing before the parade’s 50 million viewers.

Koda Kumi to be hostess at Tokyo nightclub?

What could be a more interesting night out than at a Japanese pop star’s nightclub? That just might be possible, as Koda Kumi is standing by an earlier promise to open a club in Tokyo, if her current greatest hits album sells over 1 million copies. Fortunately for her, the album is selling like hotcakes, and stands poised to reach those figures any day now. Word is circulating, that she’s making plans to open a club in the Ginza district of Tokyo sometime after her current tour finishes. Open for only one night, it is rumored to have Koda hosting the club alongside a horde of Koda Kumi look-alike’s.

Introducing Li Yuchun, China’s “Super Girl”

Just in case you haven’t heard of China’s latest pop phenomenon Li Yuchun, let me introduce you. She recently won China’s “Super Girl” contest, a talent show broadcast to over 400 million viewers, and quite similar to the US’s “American Idol” show. Despite not being the strongest singer or dancer of the bunch, it seems she’s hit a nerve with the Chinese public because of what many termed “her over the top originality.” She reportedly showed up to early auditions wearing loose jeans, no make-up, and an overly androgynous “Ziggy Stardust” like persona. The jury’s still out on whether her success will last, but the management team assembling around her at the moment, seem quite confident that they have a future star on their hands.
