Superstar Gackt surprises Tokyo Dome audience

Gackt’s ability to inspire media attention, and at the same time wow audiences, was demonstrated once again at this years Christmas Eve show at the Tokyo Dome. The Japanese artist entered the arena, riding a horse through the crowd at full gallop, all the while donning an elaborate array of heavy medieval gear. He reportedly trained several months for the event, and it proved to be quite successful, not only for several thousand adoring fans, but for the incredible amount of media attention he received for several weeks afterwards.

Koda Kumi, “Most Influential” Japanese artist

Congratulations to Koda Kumi for being voted “Most Popular Artist” on Oricon’s Top 20 website for 2005. The poll was the result of over 15,000 Asian music fans who voted for the Japanese pop artist they felt was most influential in music, fashion, and lifestyle, throughout the country.

Rain and Song Hye-Kyo relationship spurs rumors

There’s been a lot of rumors circulating South Korea lately regarding an alleged love affair between Korean singer Rain and his TV co-star Song Hye-Kyo. Although the two have denied any off-screen romance, a few behind the scenes insiders have reported that after Rain consoled Song during a recent break-up, her feelings for the Asian star turned romantic. A rep for Song Hye-Kyo denied the rumors, and added that the two haven’t even been on a date.

Shinhwa’s Eric causes chaos at Narita Airport

Chaos broke out at Narita international airport recently, upon the arrival of Korean pop star Eric, front man to the group Shinhwa. He was in town to promote his latest project “Super Rookie”, which is one of many Korean drama’s to make their debut in Japan of late. Police were having a rough time trying to control the crowd, but were later relieved after Narita authorities decided to allow Eric to forgo entry formalities, and be whisked away via a special waiting car.
