Asian companies seemingly know what’s good for them: rent-a-pop star for a day, pay them loads of money, and then sit back and watch business go through the roof. From BoA selling beer, to Ayumi Hamasaki (among others) pushing Tower Records, I’m on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what ads these companies dream-up next..

It was not long after Korean singer BoA began posting to her new blog online, that buzz started spreading about her apparent talent as an amateur photographer. She started out with quite rave reviews on her personal musings, but it was her artistic photos that seemed to have garnered the most attention. In fact rumor has it her agency has been inundated with offers from several interested parties, all looking for possible photo-book deals to be produced as soon as BoA has any spare time…
Korean pop singer BoA’s enormous success in Japan, has made it all but impossible for her to spend time promoting, or performing just about anywhere else. This of course, has caused many grumblings back home, with Korean fans complaining that it’s virtually impossible to see her live without incurring the expensive costs of flying back and forth to Japan. After hearing about these issues for so long, BoA decided to take matters into her own hands, and arranged for a special one night only performance earlier last month. After the audience’s not surprising enthusiasm for the show, there was talk of adding a few more, but with her Japanese popularity being what it is, and the responsibilities that come with that, it may not be realistic to expect something like that to materialize anytime soon.
BoA has just started her “Feel BoA at Your Arm’s Distance” tour to completely sold-out audiences throughout Japan. The idea behind the shows, is to offer much more intimacy with fans, which in the past have been typically over 30,000 people at some of her more popular shows. The new venues will be decidedly more intimate, with a mere 2,000 seats available at most. All of that comes at a price, however, with so few seats available, all of them have sold-out quickly. The good news is that TBS TV recently decided to air one of these shows to celebrate BoA’s birthday on November 5, and the broadcast was such a huge success, that word has it that BoA may be considering doing a few more like these sometime soon.

Membership will include an invitation to each club’s opening ceremony, with each artist scheduled to be in attendance..
What does it take to convince the press that she’s anything more than cute? That’s just what Korean pop singer BoA mused after winning “Best Jewelry Wearer Award” in Japan recently. The Korean pop star apparently showed up in a absolutely stunning, and slightly more revealing dress than usual, and joked to the crowd that she only dressed that way for the event to show off some of her latest jewelry fashions. BoA claimed that because she’s still a teen people seem to have a hard time seeing her as being sexy, but by the looks of those in the audience, many seemed to slightly disagree with her..
Korean singer BoA is on track to become the youngest Asian star ever to break the 10 million mark in album sales. She just released her 18th single “Everlasting”, and if past performance is any indicator of future results, she will be going down into the record books very soon. Not taking anything for granted, she’s currently doing one of her most aggressive media blitzes ever, and continues to believe in good old fashioned hard work.
Quite a few Korean and Japanese pop artists came together for the “Japan Korea Friendship Year” Dec. 6, at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul. The event celebrated the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two neighboring countries. Highlights included: BoA, Rain, and Se7en from Korea, as well as V6 and Mika Nakashima from Japan.
SM Entertainment is investigating an adult video marketed to fans of their best selling pop artist BoA. The film “Superstar artist BoA” is being aggressively marketed on the internet as being the closest thing to watching the real pop star appearing in the video herself. The production company responsible, employed an actress so much like the real Korean star that SM executives are frightened that BoA’s image might be tarnished through association. Needless to say, SM Entertainment is currently weighing it’s legal options.
